With an emphasis on Social Security and worker's compensation, Michael Brown represents individuals experiencing a wide variety of health problems. These cases demand familiarity with medical terminology, practices and procedures, as well as command of the legal issues arising under specific laws and regulations. Since 1976, Mr. Brown's professional experience has been focused on these specific matters. As an attorney for the Social Security Administration, Mr. Brown analyzed disability claims and advised Administrative Law Judges. Since 1985 he has represented individual claimants seeking benefits under the Social Security Act. Likewise, persons with claims under the Pennsylvania and federal workers' compensation programs are represented. Mr. Brown also is active in the generally neglected area of veterans' affairs. As a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Maryland Bar Association, plus the Worker's Compensation Sections of the Pennsylvania and Dauphin County Bar Associations. Mr. Brown maintains the network of professional relationships, which is vital to quality representation. He frequently lectures on Social Security matters on behalf of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and other professional groups. Presentations are provided to members of support groups composed of individuals with such conditions as multiple sclerosis, head injuries, cancer, systemic lupus, neuromuscular diseases, and post-traumatic stress disorder. As a contributing author of Social Security manuals for Dickinson School of Law and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, Mr. Brown instructs attorneys throughout Pennsylvania in the substance and complexities of this area of law. Mr. Brown is a 1973 graduate of Fordham University in New York. He earned his Juris Doctorate in 1976 from Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, PA. Following a Reginald Heber Smith Fellowship, Mr. Brown served seven years as senior attorney in the Harrisburg Office of Hearings & Appeals. He has been in private practice in Harrisburg since 1985. Married and the father of four children, Mr. Brown coaches youth soccer and softball in addition to a wide range of other social, civic and athletic activities.
